I love going to concerts, I espeically love going to concerts to see new bands that I might like. Last night I went to see the Dropkick Murphys here in Eugene and had a bast. I cannot remember all of the bands who played before the Dropkick Murphys, but I do remember is The Tossers. They sound a little Flogging Molly, but different at the same time. I almost want to call them more traditional Irish music, but that's not really true.
Around 7pm I left with my roommate and Sarah who lives down the hall from us. We took the EMX (free bus) to the Eugene Bus Station because the theater is right around the corner. We waited in line, but it was moving quick. Once inside Amanda had to start drinking. The rest of us didn't really care so we just stood around waiting for her to come back. Once she did we went into the room where the concert was taking place and waited for the opening band to come out.
The first band I beleive was called the Incergance or something like that. They were close to death metal, but quite. They had a lot of low feedback that is casusing me to still not be able to hear well. Well I feel like I am yelling when I am talking normal volume. They were good, but not a band I would listen to again. Then the second band was one I really liked. I mentioned them in the first paragraph. They were good and I have already downloaded one of their albums on itunes. The thrid band was The Briggs and they were ok, nothing unusual or special I can really say about them.
It seemed like the guys in this crowd wanted to mosh any oppertunity they had. That was fine, but after a while the 14 year old boys started to take off their shirts and they were dripping with sweat. It was gross especially when they would get pushed into us. There was also some young kids, standing by the speakers. I never understand why parents let their kids go to these kind of concerts. One kids had to be 5 years old and he was crowd surfing.
So when Dropkick Murphys come one they opened with this beautiful song. It was not one of theirs, but a woman singing. I will have to see if I can find what song it is. Anyway they were on for 2 hours, Sarah thought I was lying when I told her that most headlining bands plays for 2 hours. They played the few songs I actually know and most of the songs from their new album.
When they play Kiss Me I'm Shitface they invited all the ladies to come on stage. A girl who came with two other guys that we know grabbed my arm and dragged me up there. I did kind of wanted to go up just to say I did it. So I get up there and either the girls are so drunk and singing at the top of their lungs like my roommate or just kind of there. I was singing and jumping around a bit. Amanda saw me and tried to come over, but she was too close to the drums so they didn't let her come over. Then, because she was so drunk she threw her long sleeved shirt in the air on stage. Once the song was over we could either jump into the crowd or take the stairs. I opted to take the stairs mostly so people would not be touching my ass, but also because they turned off all the lights.
They played a few more songs and then the night was over. The night was a good one and I will go to see them again if they play where I am.
We walked outside and Amanda found us quickly and we headed back to school. We had to walk and luckily I have walked to school and the bus station before so I knew the way. We were hungry and thristy so we stopped at Common Grounds, the only dinning venue open late on campus. We got what I needed and then went back to the dorm and slept.
