Last night I got to see Josh Groban in concert. I had a wonderful time, the only thing I would change is haivng better seats, but nothing I can do about that now. I had no been to a concert in over a year or two I think. It's been so long that I cannot remember, but I believe that it was Green Day and it was around the time my cousin went to Iraq.
Our seats were in section 210 on the upper level row 4. I have been in the area before for concerts, but one like this I wanted to be close enough to see details of his face. I do not remember the seats being so uncomfortable and cramped. By midway my ass was killing me.
The opening act was Angelique Kidjo who is from West Africa and she was amazing. I do not think most of the crowd liked her because her music was very Afraican and majority of the crowd was 45+. Still she was amazing, she said some of the most beautiful words ever, but I cannot remember most of it.
Then the wait between her and Josh was about 30 minutes, which is not bad I have been to concerts where the intermission was over an hour. He opened with You Are Loved and I never believe anyone who said he sounded better in concert. I can now say that he does. I can barely find the words to describe it, but now when I listen to his CDs he seems so muted compared to last night. He sang all of the songs I love from his CDs and did a duet with Angelique. I was really into it when he sang Machine, that is one of my favorite songs on the new CD.
A cute moment from the concert, well not by Josh but my mom. She was looking at my program and she was commenting on how achieved Lucia (Josh's Violinist) was and look what I could have done with I stayed with the violin. I laughed a little and asked why I stopped. She said I was so scared of Larry that I just did not want to continue. I wish I had, but not because I could of been Josh's violinist.
I bought a tour t-shirt, the program and a coffe mug. I spent about $60 on merch, but that is not too bad. There was a few other things I wanted, but I did not get. If I get a chance to see him again I will buy them then. He's coming to Oregon and Seattle in August and if I move up there I will go see him then. If not I will try to catch a close city.
